We received hundreds of entries when we asked: Why do you need a set of new tires? We had many heart felt stories, stories that made us laugh, people entering for others and even vehicles entering themselves.
It was a very difficult process in choosing our top five entries but we have narrowed it down to the following 5:
Jeff Printz – I’m entering for my friend Kathy – She has been a single foster parent to young children and infants in the District of Columbia. She worked in Law and used a large portion of her personal time raising and filling the gap for needy children. A few years ago, Kathy formally adpoted the baby she was caring for. Months later DC Foster program contacted her and asked her to adopt the two siblings to her new baby. The mother was addicted to drugs, the children in drug recovery stabilization programs and now the two toddlers where in Gov’t care. She ended up adopting all 3 and became a single parent to 3 kids under 5. Due to the drug usage of the birth mom during pregnancies, each one struggles with certain learning challenges. Kathy has given them the best, help support and educations she can provide. After adopting the kids, she was involved in an auto accident, who’s fault was not her’s. Due to her rehabilitation, she has had to change fields and therefore had a huge income decrease. Fast forward a couple more years to now. Kathy was diagnosed with Cancer in early 2011. Has undergone grueling therapy and treatments. Her mother moved down to help care for the boys. Now as of Oct 2011, she is cancer free. She doesn’t have a ton of extra money for things life demands………….like tires. When I saw her last, we were standing next to her Maroon, 2000 something Jeep Liberty, I remember thinking “this girl needs new tires”. TireVan installed new tires on my SUV several months ago and it was a fantastic experience. I am humbled and honored to know Kathy. Thanks for your consideration
Have a great Holiday Season.
Gregory Rooney - I am entering TireVan’s Tire Giveaway contest for my brother. He is an amputee and has been for 6 years. He has a wife, 3 children and a very limited income which has forced him to be on a very strict budget. One of his cars is in need of new tires before the winter. I have used TireVan’s service to buy tires for his other car in the past but unfortunately my budget won’t allow me to do so this time around. In my opinion, he is very deserving of the new tires and installation that you are giving away and I’d love to see him win. Thank you.
David Williams - As a disabled “Operation Enduring Freedom” veteran and by being on a fixed income, it is difficult for me to save and buy new tires. I also take care for my 83 year old mother once a week; meaning taking her to the grocery store and picking up her medication and mine as well. New tires would really help. Thanks in advance. David
Kris Gayden - Dear Tirevan, Winter is coming, it’s sad but it’s true. The worn tread on my tires sure makes me feel blue. A flooded basement and home reno mean the money’s all spent. A free set of tires would be excellent! Yes, tires for Christmas, that’s all that I need. I’ve been good all year, even Santa agrees. I’ve used TireVan before, so I know you’re the best. Just give TireVan a call, and they do the rest. If you pick me for new tires, my worried husband will cheer. We will both have a much safer and joyful New Year! Thanks, TireVan.
Terri Loria - I’m a single mom with 2 kids and a 10 yr old car with 217K miles. I haven’t had new tires in 2 yrs. I was able to finally find a job in April but still can’t support myself & 2 kids; we live w/ a friend. I drive my kids around in the car & I’d like to feel it’s safe. Unfortunately, my ex-husband left in 2008 and I receive no financial support from him. Prior to him leaving, I was a stay-home mom for 13 years so my job skills were rusty & I had no chance to prepare, save up, etc. I have 2 college degrees and my company is paying for a masters degree, but I still can’t live on my own. I have no savings, own no property (other than car) – and, what comes in goes right back out. I know that with the economy, lots of people could use new tires, but I also know lots of people have 2 incomes. In my case, it’s all me.No one would appreciate a new set of tires more than me. I could really use a break and would love fresh tires on my car. This is not a funny story, but it is the truth
