As a result of his successful season, he was honored with the 1980 NFL MVP award and selected to the Pro Bowl. After suffering a knee injury, he retired in 1990, but continued his legacy in sports as an NFL analyst for ESPN. Today, he remains actively involved in his community through a variety of charitable activities, including the Jaws Youth Playbook, which works to improve the overall health and wellness of at-risk youth in the Greater Philadelphia region.
